Terms of Service

Last updated 3 September 2026.

1. Use of the software

Office Remote Desk is licensed, not sold. Every workspace begins on a free trial, after which it continues on the free tier — with tighter limits on session and call length, projects, members and upload size — until a licence key is activated. Paid plans lift those limits for everyone in the workspace. Limits and plans are set out on the pricing page.

2. Trials and licence keys

The trial is one per workspace and one per computer. The app records a hardware fingerprint so that uninstalling and reinstalling does not mint a fresh trial; attempting to defeat this is a breach of these terms. Licence keys are issued directly by us — there is no in-app payment — and are tied to the workspace they are activated in. Do not share or resell a key. Changing computer is fine; ask support to release the old device.

3. Acceptable use

You may only connect to computers you own or have explicit permission to access. Using Office Remote Desk for unauthorised access, covert surveillance, harassment or fraud is prohibited and will end your licence. We may block an individual machine from connecting where it is being used this way.

4. Time tracking and employee monitoring

If you enable WorkTrack, you are the data controller for what it collects — tracked time, activity counts and, where you turn them on, work-diary screenshots. You are responsible for telling the people you track, obtaining any consent your law requires, and setting a retention period you can justify. Employee monitoring is regulated differently in almost every country. WorkTrack records counts of keyboard and mouse events and never their content, and only while a member has started their own timer; using it to monitor anyone outside your organisation, or without their knowledge, is prohibited.

5. Meetings and recording

Call recording writes to the recorder’s own computer and is never uploaded to us. Everyone in a meeting is shown a notice while recording is running. Recording people without their knowledge is illegal in many places and is not permitted here; what you do with a recording, and whether you were entitled to make it, is your responsibility.

6. Your content

Chat messages, files, projects and tracked hours in your workspace remain yours. On our hosted service we store them so the product works and for no other purpose; we do not sell them, mine them or train on them. You may request an export or deletion at any time. On a self-hosted deployment they never reach us at all.

7. Availability

We aim for high availability of the hosted service but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and remote sessions also depend on networks we do not control. Self-hosting is available if you need your own guarantees.

8. Liability

The software is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from its use, including lost data, lost billable hours, or disputes arising from tracked time or recordings.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on this page and by email to account holders.
